Guardian Star

Guardian Star's check-in texts

Guardian Star is a daily check-in app for people who live alone. With Guardian Star Plus, their family can be told by text, and for urgent steps by an automated phone call, if a check-in is missed, so family without an iPhone (or without the app) can be on the list too.

How you join

  1. Someone who uses Guardian Star adds you in the app. Guardian Star doesn't text you: their own phone sends you an invite.
  2. If you'd like the texts, you text JOIN and the 4-digit code from the invite to Guardian Star's number from your phone. (Someone using the Guardian Star app for their own number does the same: the app opens Messages with it ready.)
  3. Guardian Star answers once to confirm, and says how to stop.

From the person who added you:

Hi Al, I use Guardian Star for a daily check-in. If I ever miss one, it can text you, and call if it's urgent. If that's OK, text JOIN 4821 to Guardian Star's number. Msg & data rates may apply; text STOP to that number any time to stop.

You, to Guardian Star's number:

JOIN 4821

Guardian Star:

Guardian Star: You're in. You'll get a text if Rose misses a daily check-in (and an automated call if it gets urgent), and a short daily text when all is well. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

What you'll get

Message frequency varies: usually one a day, more if a check-in is missed. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop all texts and calls, DAILY to stop just the daily text, START to start again, HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Guardian Star is not an emergency service. If someone may be in danger, call 911.
