Guardian Star
Guardian Star's check-in emails
Guardian Star is a daily check-in app for people who live alone. With Guardian Star Plus, their family can also be
told by email if a check-in is missed, so family without an iPhone (or without the app) can be on the list too.
How you join
- Someone who uses Guardian Star adds your email address in the app.
- Guardian Star emails you once to ask. Nothing more comes
unless you tap Yes, email me on the page that email opens.
- Someone using the Guardian Star app for their own address gets the same email, and says yes the same way.
What you'll get
- "Rose hasn't checked in. Rose was due to check in by 10:00 AM. Last sign of life: today at 7:12 AM (battery
64%, not charging).", with an I'm on it button that tells the others you're checking, and
the next steps of the alert if nobody is on it yet.
- A note when someone is on it, and when it's resolved.
- "Rose's battery is low", at the level you choose in the app, and "Rose's phone may have died" if
nothing has been heard from the phone since.
- "Rose checked in at 9:12 AM today." once a day, if you want it.
Stopping
Every email has a link that stops all of Guardian Star's emails to your address, invites included (your mail app's
own unsubscribe button does the same). The daily email also has one that stops just the daily ones. If you
change your mind, the page the stop link opens lets you start again.
Your address is kept encrypted, used only for these emails, and never sold or shared. It's deleted when the
person who added you takes you off their list. Guardian Star's emails have no tracking images or links.
Guardian Star is not an emergency service. If someone may be in danger, call 911.
